Alice In Wonderland Rocks the Box Office!

The new Disney Alice in Wonderland movie rocked the movie industry with a shocking opening weekend of over $116 million dollars for director Tim Burton! I have read studio estimates were hoping for a $75 million dollar opening so watch out this could be a big one.

This Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton movie features the 3D fantasy adventures ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as 19-year-old Alice. Alice returns to a crazy world that she first encountered as a young girl. There she is reunited with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, the Dormouse, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and yes you guessed it, the Mad Hatter. Alice goes on a wild and fantastical journey to find her true destiny. While there she tries to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. The all-star cast also includes Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts.

A little fun tidbit about The Mad Hatter and why he was so "MAD": It is rumored that back in the olden days mercury was used in the making of hats and he received mercury poisoning due to this which in turn damaged his brain. Another is that he was just an eccentric extrovert. It can drive you "As Mad As A Hatter" trying to figure it out.

Coraline the movie will be coming to theaters on February 6, 2009. If you are a Nightmare Before Christmas or Corpse Bride fan you will love this movie! What happens when you combine the director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" with the acclaimed writer of "The Sandman" and "Stardust"? You get the first stop-motion animation movie shot in 3-D.

The film is about a young girl, Coraline (Dakota Fanning), who unlocks a mysterious door in her new home and enters into a parallel reality, a fantastical and thrilling imitation of her own dull life. In this world, Coraline finds a new version of her real mother (Teri Hatcher) and father (John Hodgman), her off-kilter neighbors, Miss Forcible (Dawn French), Miss Spink (Jennifer Saunders) and Mr Bobinsky (Ian MacShane), and the Cat (Keith David). However, this other world soon begins to unravel and she becomes a prisoner to her Other Mother and must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home.

Mattel has just announced that the I Love Lucy Audition doll has been delayed once gain. This is probably the third time Mattel has delayed its release. At this time we are looking at late-October 2007 before it is released, which means if it is on schedule this time we will begin shipping in early-November 2007.

No reasons are being given for the release, we can only assume that factory delays are the reason.

Jazz Baby Cabaret Dancer Barbie Dolls Just Released!

Mattel has just released the three Cabaret Dancer Barbie dolls from the new Jazz Baby series. These dolls are very unique in the Barbie world as they have 12 point of articulation (moving joints)! They are fully poseable with this new Pivotal body style and makes Barbie more like an action figure than a typical Barbie Doll. These three dolls are dressed in black and silvery outfits with hats and chairs. Each doll is unique with the hair color the main difference with a blond, redhead and brunette version.

These dolls are Gold label dolls and the total world wide production is only 5,200 dolls so they are very limited! These three dolls complete the 2007 versions of this series with the Mistress of Ceremonies doll being released a couple of weeks ago. They are boxed in very sturdy clear vinyl boxes and are fully posed in the box, so they display very nicely without removing from the box!

NECA has just released the "Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End" action figure series 2 set. This is another finely detailed and realistic series of four figures feature some great Pirates of the Caribbean characters.

This set includes the usual Captain Jack Sparrow and another Elizabeth Swann, however for the first item are Captain Teague and Tia Dalma. Captain Teague of course is Jack Sparrow's father in the movie and is played by rock star Keith Richards. Tia's figure is very very wicked looking and she even comes with a jar full of eye balls.

The Elizabeth and Tia figures are both sort packed at only two per case.

NECA has just released the Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End Teague 18" Action Figure with Sound. This finely detailed figure features Keith Richards as Captain Teague, who is Jack Sparrow's father in the movie!

This figure will absolutely be a hard-to-find figure around the holidays. First it is a POC item which in itself makes it popular, but add to that Rolling Stone Fans will be after it and then finally the fact that NECA always under produces their 18" figures makes this a must get early figure.

NECA has just released the Rob Zombie's Halloween Michael Myers 18" Action Figure with motion activated sound. This is a finely detailed figure of the "new" Michael Myers with two face masks and two knives.

This is sure to be hot item, the Rob Zombie Halloween figures were the hit of the San Diego Comic Con Convention. Add to that is the fact that NECA always short produces the 18" figures and this is sure to be a hard-to-find item around the holidays.

Reem Acra Bride Barbie Now Shipping!

Mattel has finally released the Reem Acra Bride Barbie doll. It is a month late in being released but the wait was worth it, this doll is absolutely the finest Bride doll Mattel has ever produced. First off it is in a huge box so that the gown can be fully displayed (the box is the same size as a cowboy boot box), Barbie is posed in profile with the gown stretched from left to right. The box is like a boot box in that the top comes off with the doll safely behind a vinyl window.
